Books Worth Reading: "Bodies Are Cool"

"Bodies Are Cool" by Tyler Feder is a picture book for preschoolers about body positivity that was just released on June 1st of this year. Tyler Feder describes it as "a celebration of the diversity in our bodies."

Something I especially love about this book is that it joyfully depicts bodies without any whiff of negative connotation. As someone with a facial difference, I can honestly say that this is the first time I've ever seen a picture book that illustrates someone with a facial port-wine stain birthmark (3 in 1,000 babies are born with port-wine stain birthmarks, but 50% of all babies are born with a vascular birthmark that can sometimes fade called a stork bite or angel kiss).

"Big bodies, small bodies / dancing, playing, happy bodies! / Look at all these different bodies! / Bodies are cool!”

This is a great option to add to your baby's personal library or check out from your local library.
