The first Early Parenting & Baby Group is coming up this Wednesday!
You can find out more info about the what/where/when here, but I thought I'd give you an idea of why I wanted to start it.
Something I love about being a member of Madison Doula Collective is the community of families we support, that we bring together once a month for our group prenatals. Our group prenatals are often full of the same families who come month after month in preparation for the birth of their baby. At the end of 2019, I noticed that the families we supported were also looking for community after their baby arrived, too.
There are quite a few options for baby groups in Madison, but there is a gap in Near East Madison locations. And the majority of baby groups are just for people who identify as a "mom". I wanted to create a group that was explicitly inclusive of all parents and their babies, in a space that is financially and physically accessible with on-site parking and is on the Madison Metro busline. Which is why Margaret and I chose Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center. Wil-Mar has been a hub of the Near Eastside Madison community for over 50 years, and has recently been renovated (the interior was just renovated Fall 2019, and it's absolutely stunning! Check out some pictures here!)
